Current Transformer Bar Type
Newtek Bar type current transformers are designed to be mounted in-line with bus bars, making them an integral part of power distribution systems. These CTs are fully insulated to withstand the high voltages present in switchgear applications. The primary winding of a bar type current transformer consists of a single turn primary conductor, which is typically a fully insulated bar. The insulation on the primary winding conductor can either be a bakelized paper tube or a resin directly molded on the bar. This insulation ensures the safety and integrity of the primary winding in high voltage environments.
The secondary winding of a bar type CT is wound on a core, which is similar to other types of current transformers. The core is made up of laminated steel or other suitable materials to minimize magnetic losses. The secondary winding consists of multiple turns, and the number of turns is determined by the desired turns ratio.
